Can I get a framing estimate over the phone? Usually we are not able to give you an estimate without seeing what we are framing and you deciding which frame, mat, and glass you would like. We try not to be over priced and we will work with your budget, even take payments!!
If I order today will it be ready tomorrow? It depends on if we have
the moulding in stock, and our schedule for the day, since we teach classes in the afternoon. We will try to work with your deadlines, but we do prefer to not do same day turn arounds, since it isn't fair to the customers that are ahead of the rushes.
What is the normal wait for a framing order? Our goal is two weeks, which tends to be industry standards. That gives us time to order the supplies, get them in, and work on your frame. Around the holidays it can become much longer. So, plan way ahead if it is for a gift and call to find out the current wait time.
How is framing priced? Frame moulding, is priced by the foot. Prices on mouldings can range from $6.50 a foot on up to $100.00 per foot. Mats and glass are by the inch. We have hundreds of options for mats and frames and several options for glass. So there's a wide range of options.
Can I use a frame that I already have? ABSOLUTELY! We believe in recycling. You are more than welcome to bring in a frame that you have or that treasure that you found at the yard sale! Happens all the time. We can custom cut mats and glass to fit what you have. We are a full service frame shop and offer services from just cutting glass for you to doing complete layouts. We are more than happy to work with you on any unique projects.
Can I get an estimate in store? Yes, come into the store with the piece that you want framed, and we can help you design a frame that suites your needs. If you have a budget that you are trying to stay within then just let us know. There is no obligation once we do the estimate.
Do you frame needlework? Yes, We actually pin your work to the foam core backing or sew it to mat board without the use of any adhesives. We do not use adhesives because of the high risk of permanently discoloring or damaging the artwork We will also do the blocking if it is needed.
Why is mat board used at all? Besides the decorative variety that colored and textured mat boards offer they also provide an important function. Mat board is just thick enough to allow a small space for air to circulate between the artwork and the glass. This space helps minimize the chance of moisture accumulating on the art and damaging it.
What do you frame? We frame original artwork on canvas, board, paper, wood, and metal. We frame documents. We frame puzzles, photographs, prints, poems, calligraphy. We frame jerseys, flags, buttons, receiving outfits, going home outfits, flowers, rattles, shoes, rings, pins, medals, letters, recipe cards, tatting, crochet doilies and brass balls. We frame memories. Basically, if it doesn't move fast enough, we might frame it!
